I chose the Magic Program at Miami Dade College to follow my dreams. I entered with love for games and their stories, but not truly understanding how these worlds were actually built. Since starting I have learned not only knowledge on how to use Unity but how to truly make an experience. The Magic program is teaching me the foundational skills in game design, programming, and even storyboarding. Working on Unity and a little of Unreal engine, taught me how these systems work and how to build incrementally like you would with code. Even working in groups to begin building skills in communication, feedback, and adaptability to aid in the creative process. The challenges have been crazy, especially in debugging code when some game object doesn't behave the way you want it to. Or even when it does something you didn't mean to. Professionally I want to join Naughty Dog and help bring a real Jak4 to the world. Jak and Daxter was one of the series growing up that inspired my love for games, and it being unresolved lead me to wanting to help create one and seek game design as a career.
I won't lie this path has it challenges truly, but every compiler error or null exception is one less step to achieving my dreams. One were i don't just make a game but a story one remembers forever.
